An experienced Web Developer adept in all stages of advanced web development, with over 16 years professional experience alongside 5 years of running my own web development business.

Bringing forth expertise in project management, design, development, installation and maintenance of web systems, user interface design, testing, and debugging processes. Equipped with a diverse and promising skill set. Proficient in an assortment of web/database/server technologies, including HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, ASP.NET, C#, IIS, Tomcat, mySQL and Microsoft SQL Server. Able to effectively self-manage or collaborate in a team during projects.

I hold a Masters in Computing and I am looking for the opportunity to advance further into a senior position where I can use my skills in overseeing projects, developing strategies and leading a team.

Managing Director

Stack Web Design is my own business. Established in 2015 I handle all the day to day operations and developments when not outsourcing.

Designing and developing sites in multiple software and cloud-based platforms to deliver dynamic websites/web applications for clients.

In-depth statistical reporting and SEO services.

Marketing the business, whether it be via social networking (digital or face to face/meetings/conferences/online seminars).

Accountancy and revenue generation utilising a bespoke CRM system to enable me to track and follow up lead generation, catalogue client details, invoicing and keep warm campaigns.

Coleg Cambria (2015 to date)

Senior Web Developer

Coleg Cambria is the largest secondary education College in North Wales. The role involves managing the web team and developing and maintaining the college’s web portfolio of sites.

Managing the College Web Team responsible for a portfolio of websites/applications that assist the college market it’s courses and services and also help develop automation in the form of web apps to help streamline work.

Integrate external agency designs/systems into internal environments including Corporate website (transferring designs built in HTML/CSS to WordPress using PHP and MySQL) and course search adaptor at application layer.

Administrate and train staff on how to use the College CMS (content management system), which allows departments the ability to control the content of their individual web pages.

Manage Web Team annual budgets and service contracts with external suppliers.

Line management of Web Team staff including scheduling and hosting annual and monthly reviews, outlining targets and evaluating performance.

Administer the web servers virtualized in a VMWare environment including making sure that server security is up to date and that the environment is running optimally.
Work closely with the Director of Marketing, Admissions and Student Services to assist with any Marketing/IT support and development opportunities.

Glyndwr University (2014 – 2015)

Systems Analyst Programmer

Glyndwr University (formally known as NEWI) gained university status in 2008 and continues to thrive in the heart of Wrexham.

Maintain existing application servers, database management systems and stakeholder requirements for Information systems of the University.
Develop and support a range of bespoke applications and interfaces which provide information systems using a range of programming skills including MS SQL, Visual Basic, MS .NET, Classic ASP and web technologies.
Liaise closely with user departments on the implementation of new systems, including the establishment and management of projects.
Ensure that database systems and application code is secure and any security incidents are investigated and resolved.

Glyndwr University (2009 – 2014)

Web Developer

Glyndwr University (formally known as NEWI) gained university status in 2008 and continues to thrive in the heart of Wrexham.

Design, develop and implement new corporate website and additional satellite sites using strict mark-up (HTML 5 and CSS 3), latest web technologies (jQuery, AJAX, MooTools etc.), web standards (W3C) and design principles (responsive functionality which allows websites to scale accordingly to the native resolution of the device i.e. desktop, tablet and mobile phone).
Administrate and train staff on how to use the University CMS (content management system), which allows departments the ability to control the content of their individual web pages.
Administrate the Universities E-Learning environment (Moodle and formerly Blackboard) and the corporate intranet and advise users on queries relating to the systems.
Administer the web and CMS servers virtualized in a VMWare environment including making sure that server security is up to date and that the environment is running optimally, also running routine backups using Veeam to restore the server state from backups whenever necessary (disaster recovery).
Administer the University web server for setting up and configuring new websites and shared areas on the network using the latest version of IIS.
Design and develop internal applications using ASP.NET and SQL server.

National Probation Service (2007 – 2009)

IT Technician

The National Probation Service is a statutory criminal justice service that supervises high-risk offenders released into the community. The support teams assist probation officers do thier day to day jobs and help troubleshoot any problems with systems.

Working within a team to resolve various IT related problems within SLA’s (service level agreements).
Monitoring, backup (utilising Backup Exec) and administration of the Citrix network infrastructure including the organisations AD domain.
Creating Microsoft Word templates incorporating Visual Basic and Lotus Notes database applications to assist users in everyday tasks.
Assist in the generation of government statistics utilising BI Query and Crystal Reports software suites.
Providing support on all bespoke business applications utilised within the probation service.
Provide first and second line IT support to probation officers and support staff via telephone, e-mail, remote desktop and site visits.
Build and install IT equipment for users who require assisted technology.
Assist in the process of setting up new offices including network and desktop setup.
Design, development and implementation of the Cheshire Probation Website built using PHP server side scripting and MySQL databases hosted on an Apache web server environment. The website was built using strict mark-up to adhere to the W3C standards for website design.
Liaising with board directors via web steering groups regarding the direction and new amendments of the Cheshire Area Website.

Northampton General Hospital NHS (2004 – 2005)

Intranet Officer

Northampton General Hospital is part of the NHS. Support teams help with internal and external communication and tech support of life saving equipment.

The design and development of new content for the hospital intranet site created in classic ASP server side scripting and using MySQL databases.
Design, development and implementation of an all new intranet site including liaising with external companies about additional products.
The development of a standalone patient/visitor hospital map kiosk web application.
The design and development of a new internet cafe section for patients and staff, which entailed creating the branding, print and website.
Covering role for the IT support team which involved advising members of staff on how to rectify problems with various IT issues.
Monitor the day-to-day statistics of intranet activity and produce reports for use in team briefings.
Liaising on a day-to-day basis with other members of hospital staff from various departments, arranging meetings either in person or over the phone with the objective of adding, modifying or creating new web content for specific departments on the hospital intranet.
